Hello Fit Test Dummies Fans!
Now that we have a few videos up, and all of you have given me your two cents about editing technique, I thought I would introduce myself:  I’m the editor.  🙂

I Edit So You Don’t Have To
Fitness miscreant and film school drop-out, I think I fit in perfectly here at Fit Test Dummy Headquarters.  It’s always a pleasure to be surrounded by those who are passionate about what they do as that sentiment is quite contagious.  Motivated by a fervor for health, self-care and the urge to help others, the Fit Test Dummies are constantly thinking of ways to get people up, moving and fit.  Watching them work hard makes me want to work hard too… although that just might be because I’m the lucky one that has to watch these vehement hard-bodies do the same exercises over and over and over and over again every day of my life until eventually, I can’t stop the urge to try the workout out myself.  And you guys wouldn’t believe what ends up on the cutting room floor…. or maybe you would…

To be honest there is so much more to Fit Test Dummies than what you see on the videos–excellent tips on diet and health, detailed instruction on exercise technique and form that doesn’t make the cut.

I wish there was time to include every piece of fitness advice, health facts, weight loss tips, personal narratives, jokes, and the like in our videos.  I try my best to include a little taste of what you’re missing at the end of each video: pure fan service.  Through our videos, I hope that you not only learn a great deal about health and wellness, but that you also get to know who our hosts really are.  Keep following them through their Fit Testing Adventures!

The Editor

Real Fit

Want to be REAL fit?

Not FAKE fit – no ridiculous impossible expectations requiring hours in the gym and impossible to maintain meal plans. People ask me all the time what my routine is – they think I’m going to tell them I’m a professional trainer spending hours in the gym and eating very specialized food or eating like a bird.

The truth is, I haven’t been to the gym in two years, I never workout more than 90 minutes a day, and most of the time I’m eating fast food for lunch.

What’s the key then? I make myself a priority – my second appointment every day is a workout DVD in my home gym (the patio). I use supplements judiciously. I eat real food for dinner (I’m blessed to have an amazingly fit wife who has taught herself to cook gourmet healthy food).

And I run a company producing branded content for The Biggest Loser TV show, opening The Biggest Loser Resorts around the country, finding sponsors for The Miss Universe Organization, and now producing original content to help all of you reach your fitness goals. Yes I’m a fitness dork – and I’m proud of it.

More tomorrow on fast food secrets and my favorite protein supplement.

The 90/10 Rule

Diet – it’s a bad word. I don’t diet, I really don’t. What I’ve done is trained myself to eat the right amounts of real food MOST of the time. But every so often I eat something gross or eat too much of something good – and my body tells me.

Tonight I had a very nice early dinner with my family. We had Pho at Lemongrass in Eagle Rock – yum! And pretty good for you. Soup with noodles and lean beef. Love it – all about the flavor. Then we went and picked up Kylie and she wanted Pizza so we went to this little gourmet pizza place in Glendale called Rocky’s. I took a bite of cheese pizza to make sure it wasn’t too hot and omg – amazing pie. I ate a whole piece. Well it’s a special occasion so I went next door to get dessert for Kylie and they had these huge super chunk chocolate chip cookies (420 cals posted right there but I bought it anyway) plus I got a 32oz iced blended pure dark chocolate peppermint. – which sounded good cuz it’s christmas.

I ate half the cookie and most of the drink. Now I feel like crap.

Here’s the difference. I don’t feel like I “ruined” my diet. I just indulged in some wonderful flavors and now my body is paying for it. But it’s OK. It’s the 90/10 rule. Eat well 90% of the time and you can indulge every so often. I’m being punished because I over did it, but my brain isn’t messed up by it. Come Monday I’ll be working out again and my next meal will be healthy and on-track with my real lifestyle.

When drinking it’s important to remember not to forget your calorie consumption target for the day. Also – sleep is important for recovery. Also – hangovers make that morning workout really tough. Goodnight folks.
